Howard Serbin

Howard Serbin is a probate and elder law attorney who serves in an "of counsel" capacity for the Ultimo Law Firm when the firm undertakes cases in his areas of expertise.  These areas are will and trust contests; probate and trust administration and litigation; conservatorships; guardianships; and elder law.

Before entering private practice in 2006, Mr. Serbin served 29 years as a government attorney with the Orange County Counsel, primarily specializing in probate, mental health, and juvenile law.  He was the first-ever Orange County Counsel Supervising Attorney in charge of Probate and Mental Health.  His expertise is well-known in the Orange County Courthouse.  He is one of the attorneys approved for Court-appointment to represent persons suffering from elder abuse, neglect, or dementia.

Mr. Serbin is a past chair of the Orange County Bar Association Trust and Estates Section.  He has testified on proposed probate legislation before the State Legislature and the State Law Revision Commission, and helped draft two bills that were enacted into law.  Mr. Serbin co-authored the Mental Health section of the most-recognized textbook on California Conservatorship Law.  He has made numerous presentations to the Orange County Bar Association, the California County Counsel's Association, and other organizations.

Howard Serbin is  agraduate of UCLA law school, having received his Juris Doctorate in 1974.
