In Bucks County, PA, the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (A.R.D.) program is a year-long informal probation-diversion program. During the A.R.D. program, a Bucks County DUI Defendant may have to serve a 30-day, 60-day, or a 90 day Pennsylvania driver’s license suspension.
If you have been approved for the A.R.D. program, you will be admitted to the A.R.D. program on the date that your Bucks County DUI case is set for trial. On your DUI trial date you must sign an A.R.D. contract with the Bucks County District Attorney. After a judge of the Bucks County Common Pleas Court admits you into the first offender’s program, you must pay all of your fines and other costs to the Bucks County Clerk of Criminal Court.
Your Pennsylvania driver’s license will not be suspended on the day that you are admitted into the A.R.D. program. About three weeks after your Bucks County DUI trial date, you will receive a letter from PennDot alerting you that your Pennsylvania driver’s license will be suspended on a certain date in the near future. You may find a copy of a PennDot DUI Driver’s License Suspension Letter here.
After you receive a PennDot DUI Driver’s License Suspension Letter, you must then turn in your physical driver’s card to a PennDot Service Center to get credit for your A.R.D. DUI license suspension.

There are many other requirements to complete the Bucks County A.R.D. program. We suggest that you consult with and retain a qualified and local Bucks County DUI attorney to maximize your chance to be admitted into the Bucks County A.R.D. program.
